Academic Functional and Adult Epilepsy Neurosurgeon Section Chief Westchester Medical Center-Valhalla, NY The Department of Neurosurgery at Westchester Medical Center is seeking a board eligible/board certified neurosurgeon with advanced training and experience in functional and/or epilepsy neurosurgery. Ability to obtain active New York medical licensure. Responsibilities include developing and leading a productive surgical practice in functional and epilepsy disorders, teaching and mentoring neurosurgical residents, advancing knowledge in the field through publication and presentation of discoveries and best practices in patient care, and participating in translational research within the department to identify new therapies for patients with neurological disease. The candidate would be integral to the health network's joint multi-disciplinary initiative to create a center of clinical excellence in Functional and Epilepsy Surgery. The Department of Neurosurgery has an excellent on-going collaboration with Neurology, Pain Management, Plastic Surgery, and Orthopedics and would support the development of clinical interests in Neurorestorative surgery such as movement disorders, facial pain, spinal cord and peripheral stimulation, and adult epilepsy. There are significant institutional resources for both inpatient and outpatient growth already allocated including ROSA, O-arm, LITT, hybrid OR, e-ICU, and state-of-the art patient care infrastructure. A strong interest in clinical care, teaching, research, and programmatic development are critical to this position.
