The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Duke University School of Medicine invites applications for a board-certified/board-eligible Psychiatrist to join our team as a nocturnist on our Emergency Psychiatry Service at the Duke University Hospital. The start date is flexible. Position is available as soon as April 2021.

Primary Activities: This clinical faculty position will include assisting with any psychiatry related needs in the Duke University Hospital Emergency Department as well as urgent consult liaison related duties on the inpatient medical/surgical floors that may arise during their shifts. They are onsite during their night shifts and will primarily be responsible for evaluating psychiatric patients, making treatment recommendations, and responding to behavioral health emergencies. They will be part of an interdisciplinary team of social workers, advanced practice providers, and psychiatrists. Social workers will assist in evaluations and referrals overnight. Successful applicants will be strong clinicians with demonstrated proficiency in team-based communication and collaborating with clinicians from other disciplines. This position may also involve participation in clinical research projects and supervision of health professions students.
