Lexington Surgery is seeking an Acute Care Surgeon to join our team of 14 highly skilled general surgeons in a collaborative and congenial environment committed to the highest standards of clinical excellence and service. The desired applicant will also serve as Trauma Director of Lexington Medical Center. Lexington Surgery is an employed group within the Lexington Medical Center network of care.
Position Requirements
- BC/BE General Surgeon
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Certification
- Qualifications in Surgical Critical Care (preferred)
- Compliance with all ACS Mandated Trauma CME Requirements
Position Description
Service Operations
- Practice evidence-based urgent/emergent general surgery and trauma coverage
- Surgeon will work 14 shifts in a 28-day timeframe. Shift will include rounding on inpatients, new consults, and urgent/emergent cases in the OR. No phone calls or rounds on “off shift”
- Practice solely as an inpatient Acute Care Surgeon, without clinic responsibilities
Regulatory
- Foster a culture of safety, quality improvement, and system integration
Liaison Relationships
- Serve as member of Medical Staff leadership for the Trauma Program by chairing the multidisciplinary Trauma Peer Review Committee
- Provide medical direction to clinical staff involved in the provision of trauma care, mobilizing medical staff to meet the care needs of trauma patients, and communicating criteria for Level lll Trauma Center accreditation
