The Inova Schar Cancer Institute (ISCI) is looking for a leader of its thoracic oncology program. The leader will build and run an active program of independent and collaborative research, work with a multi-disciplinary group of investigators at Inova and develop vibrant research collaborations aimed at having a local, national, and international impact on cancer treatments and outcomes. This position will partner with the Co-Director from Thoracic Surgery to develop a nationally recognized lung cancer program. The successful candidate will be an outstanding clinical/translational physician investigator with expertise in the care of lung malignancies, with the ability and personal characteristics to direct the development of an outstanding interdisciplinary clinical lung cancer program. S/he will also be active in education, including with the ISCI fellowship in hematology/medical oncology, with the Inova Fairfax Hospital’s Internal Medicine Residency program, as well as part of the University of Virginia Medical School’s Inova regional campus for third- and fourth-year medical students.

The Inova Schar Cancer Institute, established with $400M of funding, including a single $50M philanthropic grant, is a state-of-the-art 340,000-square-foot cancer research and treatment institute that combines a strong commitment to personalized patient care with the research and clinical strengths of a highly regarded academic medical center. This includes a 60-chair infusion unit, a radiation oncology department with all modalities of care including proton radiation, as well as a national-recognized comprehensive psycho-social support program for patients and families. ISCI is located on an 110-acre campus across the street from the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus (833 beds), and is less than 10 miles outside of Washington, DC, in Falls Church, VA.
