Duke Health and Duke Cancer Network are recruiting an additional General Hematology-Oncology physician for its affiliated community cancer center in Laurinburg, NC. Interest in teaching and/or involvement in community-based clinical research is a plus. Call responsibilities are consultative only with no rounding responsibilities.
The Scotland Cancer Treatment Center has had Duke physicians delivering world-class cancer care in its community for many years - translating clinical research findings into the most advanced therapies for their patients, including a breast cancer multidisciplinary clinic. The cancer center also has an aesthetically pleasing chemotherapy suite, new radiation therapy linear accelerator and simulator, and full-time social worker available for their patients.
Laurinburg is located in southeastern North Carolina near the South Carolina border and is only 35 minutes from the golf resort of Pinehurst with its wonderful dining experiences and unique shops. It's also within 2 hours of Raleigh-Durham, Charlotte, Wilmington and Myrtle Beach. Laurinburg is the county seat for Scotland County, which has nearly 36,000 residents, and is proud to have received three national All America City awards. According to North Carolina Magazine, Scotland County has "the ideal mix of location, opportunities, and amenities." Our temperate, but seasonal climate offers many opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities year round.
