The Department of Radiation Medicine at Northwell Health seeks a board-certified radiation oncologist as Vice Chair of Brachytherapy within the department of Radiation Medicine. This is a clinical leadership position to build upon an established brachytherapy program across the Northwell Health System. The Department with nine clinical locations throughout the NY metro area has six HDR after-loaders, a strong LDR program as well as a full spectrum of brachytherapy cases including intravascular brachytherapy. This opportunity is to lead the service and develop a system standard of care and program around brachytherapy that interdigitates with the multidisciplinary disease programs within the Northwell Health Cancer Institute. The role will be to develop research protocols, relationships with industry, and to educate the next leaders in brachytherapy.

The Department of Radiation Medicine is one of the largest in the NY metro area treating >275 patients daily. The residency program is recognized by Doximity as the second ranked program in NY State. We are recognized for having developed a novel safety culture framed around Smarter Radiation Oncology®. The candidate for this position will be one with a background in brachytherapy looking for a leadership role in driving the strategic growth and development of brachytherapy. Candidates must have a minimum of five years’ experience preferably at the Associate or Professor level. The role will be split clinical (with a practice in Nassau County, NY) and administrative across the system in developing a brachytherapy strategy for clinical growth and consistency, research ,and education.

The Department of Radiation Medicine is part of the Northwell Health Cancer Institute, which treats more than 16,000 patients with cancer, giving patients access to the services of more than 200 Cancer Institute physicians in more than 25 sub-specialties. The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research is home to Northwell Health’s research and is an epicenter for scientific discovery and innovation, including basic science and clinical research in molecular medicine, genetics, oncology, brain research, mental health, autoimmunity, and bioelectronic medicine. In 2015, Northwell Health and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory began a strategic affiliation to accelerate cancer research, diagnosis, and treatment. This collaboration offers the ability to deliver cancer therapeutics to patients throughout the region, while also meeting the comprehensive medical and surgical needs of those with cancer and at risk of the disease.

Salary Disclosure

Full-time clinical base compensation at Northwell Health ranges from $125K to $750K, which is impacted by various factors, including but not limited to physician specialty, level of experience, quality of care, academic accomplishments, patient experience and productivity. The base compensation range listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
