The Hospitalist/Nocturnist provides inpatient clinical services for the Cambridge Health Alliance. The individual will provide the services of a full-time Hospitalist/Nocturnist, and follow all Cambridge Health Alliance Hospitalist Service policies, including the Hospitalist Service Work Policy. 50% of Physician's time will be dedicated to daytime shifts as a Staff Hospitalist, with the remaining 50% of time dedicated to nighttime shifts as a Nocturnist. While the individual's initial schedule is split 50% daytime shifts and 50% nighttime shifts, the Company will periodically review the division of scheduled shifts after the individual's first year of employment and it is subject to revision.

Specific job duties include: serving as attending of record to patients on the hospitalist service and providing admission evaluation to other patients per hospitalist service policy; sharing clinical duties for nights, weekends, and holidays consistent with Department policies, such as the Hospitalist Service Work Policy; maintaining appropriate records relating to all professional services rendered by Hospitalist; preparing and attending to, in connection with such services, all billings, reports, claims, and correspondence in the form and manner required by the Employer as necessary or appropriate under the circumstances; providing inpatient and emergency department consultation as requested and providing coverage for the rapid response and resuscitation teams; assisting in the efficient flow of patients through the continuum of care (ED to inpatient floors to outpatient setting); serving a critical role in assuring communication across the continuum of care and helping to form and maintain productive relationships with primary care physicians; effectively communicating with all members of a patient's care team and providing collegial, timely, and accurate sign-out information on the transfer of patient care among physicians, non-physicians, and non-hospitalist practitioners; functioning as a temporary designated supervisor on a day-to-day basis for midlevel practitioners working on the hospitalist service; assisting in improving patient care at Cambridge Health Alliance in all its facets through participation in key quality improvement initiatives, and will be expected to play a leadership role in developing systems of care including the use of evidence-based protocols and standard order sets; mentoring and assisting with teaching medical students and residents at the Cambridge Health Alliance as assigned by the Department Chief; and performing all other duties as assigned by the Division Chief and/or Department Chief.

Minimum requirements: Doctor of Medicine or its equivalent and the completion of a three-year medical residency program.

Must have: Medical license issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
