Job Summary
A plastic surgeon deals with the repair, reconstruction or replacement of physical defects of form or function involving the skin, musculoskeletal system, craniomaxillofacial structures, hands, extremities, breasts and trunk and external genitalia. They use aesthetic surgical principles not only to improve undesirable qualities of normal structures but in all reconstructive procedures as well. A plastic surgeon possesses special knowledge and skill in the design and surgery of grafts, flaps, free-tissue transfer and replantation. Competence in the management of complex wounds, the use of implantable materials and in tumor surgery is required.

Job Duties
Geisingeris seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to join our Plastic Surgery Department in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA. The successful candidate will join an established plastic surgery team that works collaboratively with peers and other multidisciplinary providers, advanced practitioners and specialty staff (licensed and non-licensed). The candidate must have excellent communication skills with a focus on improving patient access and patient satisfaction. Microsurgery experience or fellowship training is preferred. An integrated plastic surgery residency program was established in July 2018, so responsibilities will include participation in teaching, research, and program development.

  • Provide a broad range of services including general plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery (body contouring, breast augmentation, breast lift, abdominoplasty, face lift, liposuction, eyelid lift, brow lift), breast reconstruction, maxillofacial trauma, and cancer/trauma reconstruction.
  • Active involvement in the education of integrated plastic surgery residents.
  • Benefit from an established reconstructive and cosmetic referral base, generated from Geisinger and outside/private practice physicians and surgeons
  • Fully integrated Electronic Health Record (EHR) - EPIC

GEISINGER WYOMING VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER: (GWV), located in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., is an acute care hospital that is licensed for 274 beds, and houses the only Level II Trauma center in Luzerne County. The campus includes the Frank M. and Dorothea Henry Cancer Center, The Richard and Marion Pearsall Heart Hospital, the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital Pediatric Unit, a transplant program and the Brain & Spine Tumor Institute. Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre is GWV’s ambulatory campus.

GEISINGER-COMMUNITY MEDICAL CENTER (G-CMC), Scranton, Pa., is an acute care hospital licensed for 297 beds and houses the only Level II Trauma Center in Lackawanna County and Scranton’s only neurosurgery program and adult in-patient behavioral health unit. It is also home to comprehensive cardiovascular and orthopaedic services, as well as a broad range of other surgical and radiological services.

Position Details
