Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Division Chief for Nephrology. 

The successful candidate will provide strategic, innovative, and operational leadership, and will have responsibility and accountability for the clinical and academic performance for the Division within the Department of Internal Medicine. A strong record of collaborative leadership and commitment to excellence in clinical, research, and academic service is essential. Ongoing research achievement, community engagement, and educational excellence are highly desirable. The successful candidate must also be committed to mentoring faculty, trainees, and medical students. In addition, (s)he will have credentials that merit appointment as Associate Professor or Professor, will have an M.; M.D/PhD. or equivalent degree, will be board certified, will possess a demonstrated commitment to innovation, and will have the leadership skills necessary for guiding faculty development and advancement across research, clinical, and academic missions.

The Division Chief will be a strong leader who will work closely with the Department of Internal Medicine Chairperson, Dr. Jochen Reiser to provide an energetic and inventive vision for maintaining and growing clinical, educational, and research programs, developing strategic interdisciplinary teams for furthering research, and continuing faculty development.

The Nephrology Research program at Rush is very active with a large NIH portfolio covering many areas of translational Nephrology. The Nephrology Division collaborates closely with other Rush specialists to treat kidney conditions as well as health issues related to kidney disease. Rush has a busy and highly regarded kidney transplant program with 100% one-year survival since 2006. In 2020, the Division is ranked number 1 in Illinois and number 11 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
