The Associate Chief of Clinical Services will be responsible for implementing the strategic plan of the clinical mission of the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy & Critical Care and will be the lead physician administrator for all components of the clinical practice of the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy & Critical Care. Key components of this position will be faculty supervision and mentorship, strategic planning, and oversight of the administrative services of the clinical practice.

Candidates should have experience as a medical director or similar leadership role. Ideally have an active clinical practice and experience in both strategic and operational planning in an academic setting.

This person should be a practicing clinician and should understand market forces and the move to value care. Candidates should have strong leadership skills and a demonstrated ability to develop collaborative organizational relationships.

As a liaison for the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy & Critical Care with the clinical leaders of the Department of Medicine, the Private Diagnostic Clinic, and Duke University Health System, the Associate Chief of Clinical Services will work to develop and implement strategies to foster and improve working relationships with nursing and administrative team members. They will maintain cooperative working relationships with the Department of Medicine and Duke Health leadership in order to foster participatory decision-making, planning and implementation of new initiatives in alignment with organizational objectives. They will mediate physician conflicts and participate in performance evaluations of medical directors, clinical program directors, Division administrators, and nursing and administrative leaders at clinical sites.

The Duke Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine comprises of several clinical programs that deliver excellence in patient care and pioneer research in our field including: Allergy, and Airway Center; Cystic Fibrosis Center; Duke Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension Program; Hyperbaric Medicine Service; Interstitial Lung Disease Program; Interventional Pulmonology Program; Lung and Heart-Lung Transplant Program; Center for Pulmonary Vascular Disease and Sleep Medicine Program.
