Westchester Medical Center, a quaternary regional academic medical center in Valhalla, NY, 30 minutes north of New York City, seeks a Pediatric Retina Specialist to join our expanding faculty. Westchester Medical Center is the flagship of the 10-hospital Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth). The 600-bed medical center is the primary teaching affiliate for New York Medical College and serves as a regional referral and trauma center. This dynamic faculty member will join the Department of Ophthalmology at the assistant or associate level. The department has eleven faculty members representing most specialties of ophthalmology, and is expanding the retina service based on increasing volumes. This is an established academic and community practice with a mission to provide education and teaching opportunities to hospital residents, as well as New York Medical College students. The pediatric retina specialist will be the primary point person for coverage for the Retinopathy of Prematurity service in a 50-bed Level 4 NICU. This will consist of weekly screening, treatment when necessary, and outpatient follow-up. Development of other pediatric retina specialty interest will be supported. It is anticipated that about 50% of time would be devoted to adult retina, with flexibility. A core objective is to provide trauma call at Westchester Medical Center and Maria Fareri Children's Hospital for ophthalmologic emergencies.Clinical research opportunities exist and are encouraged. The Department has a newly constructed vitreoretinal surgical suite including a 3-D intraoperative retinal visualization system, and the newest technology in surgical and imaging equipment.There is an opportunity for further practice-building at our Northern affiliate hospital, Mid-Hudson Regional Medical Center, a level 2 trauma center. Applicants should have completed an accredited ophthalmology residency program, having completed a two-year surgical retina and vitreous fellowship and be eligible to obtain a New York state license. Experience with ROP is required. Applicant should be board certified or board eligible. Training or experience in ocular genetics and inherited retinal degenerations is also desirable. This employed position in our academic group practice offers ]malpractice insurance. Academic rank at New York Medical College and salary are commensurate with experience and qualifications.
