Massachusetts Eye and Ear (MEE), Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), and Harvard Medical School (HMS) are seeking a clinical and academic leader to serve as Head of the Harvard Department of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery (OHNS) and Chief of the Departments of OHNS at MEE and MGH. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will have qualifications consistent with the rank of Associate Professor or Professor at HMS. The Head of the HMS Department maintains academic responsibility for the Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery faculties at MEE, MGH, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

We seek an accomplished clinician-scientist with an established record as a leader in Otolaryngology, who is internationally recognized for outstanding clinical skills, scholarly research, and who has been a dedicated educator. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated effective leadership, managerial success, and experience in a collaborative environment. Ideally, s/he would be a proven academic medical leader with significant surgical experience and cutting-edge independent research experience who can lead a complex and successful organization to even higher levels of excellence.

This individual will be responsible for the full scope of clinical and academic activities of the Department, including:

  • Ensuring that the highest level of patient care is provided to our patients
  • Leading the recruitment, supervision, and development of a diverse faculty at MEE and MGH
  • Driving the clinical, educational, and research missions of the Department
  • Providing administrative and financial oversight of the Department
  • Working with Hospital Chiefs and other leaders to achieve the strategic plans of the Department and MEE, and
  • Collaborating on activities within the entire Mass General Brigham enterprise
