History and heritage
The history of Danville decorates its neighborhoods, and its Main Street mansions display Victorian architecture. Stroll the many blocks of historic districts and study the details of each home listed on the National Register. You can also visit the Museum of Fine Arts and History, the Sutherlin House, which served as government headquarters when Danville became the Last Capital of the Confederacy. Danville is located in Pittsylvania County, which is filled with sophisticated and simple cultural opportunities. Children here learn to play musical instruments, dance, sing, write, and act with special attention due to budding artists. Annual festivals enliven the streets of the towns and communities in the county. Museums, historical sites and homes, and an abundance of outdoor recreation are included in the range of amenities you will find here.
