Job Summary
Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital is seeking a BC/BE, full-time Pediatric Critical Care physician to join the Division of Pediatric Critical Care.

Job Duties
We would prefer candidates who have at least 5 years of experience post fellowship, but new graduates are welcome to apply as well. Our highly collaborative group consists of 7 fellowship -trained Pediatric Intensivists, three Physician Assistants, and the support of a wide array of subspecialties. Our 14 bed PICU admits approximately 800 children annually. Case mix is high acuity and spans the breadth of pediatric critical illness and injury. The group places a priority in fostering a family-centric, collegial and best practice approach in the care of our children. Our VPS collaborative data has placed our unit in the top 10% nationally in both PRISM III standardized mortality rate and length of stay.

We have very active and growing trauma, chronic ventilation, sedation and palliative care programs. Our children’s hospital has thriving hospitalist program and independent pediatric and medicine /pediatric residencies. We also participate in the education of emergency medicine and surgical residents. We have recently renovated our pediatric emergency medicine zone to include family friendly private rooms, acute care and procedure rooms.

The Department of Pediatrics provides the full range of inpatient medical and surgical subspecialty services, including pediatric hospitalists, neurology, nephrology, gastroenterology, cardiology, genetics, infectious disease and the full spectrum of pediatric surgical subspecialties. We have active outpatient services including outreach clinics in general and subspecialty pediatrics.

Position Details
Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital is a 91-bed children’s hospital with a 41-bed level IV NICU, a 14-bed PICU and separate wards for infants, toddlers and adolescents. Geisinger is a physician-led system is comprised of approximately 32,000 employees, including nearly 1,800 employed physicians, 13 hospital campuses, two research centers, a 600,000-member health plan and the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, all of which leverage an estimated $12.7 billion positive impact on the Pennsylvania and New Jersey economies.
