The Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health is seeking a full-time Pediatric Cardiologist to join the dynamic Pediatric Cardiology Heart Failure/Transplant team at Riley Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Ranked fifth in the nation by the U.S. News World & Report, the Riley Heart Center is one of the most highly respected programs for diagnosis and treatment of congenital and acquired heart conditions in children. For 2019, we performed 11,882 outpatient cardiology visits and provided 17,938 echocardiogram interpretations. Care within the Heart Center is managed by a highly skilled and experienced team of specialists, including cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, cardiovascular critical care specialists, cardiovascular anesthesiologists, neonatologists and adult cardiologists specializing in congenital heart disease. The Riley Heart Center is currently one of only seven pediatric heart programs in the U.S. with the highest quality rating (three star) from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS).Riley is the only pediatric heart transplant center in the state and has completed more than 150 pediatric heart transplants since 1989. We are capable of implementing mechanical support devices and offer transplant as an option for adults with complex, congenital heart disease. Our center is enrolled in the ACTION learning network, a multicenter collaborative aimed at quality improvement in pediatric heart failure, mechanical support, cardiomyopathy and heart transplant.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate & treat heart failure, cardiomyopathy, ventricular assist & transplant population
  • Clinical education of medical students, residents & 6 Pediatric Cardiology fellows in-training

  • Experienced clinician with a minimum of 3-5 years expertise in heart failure & transplant preferred, willing to consider new graduate fellows
  • Experience with ventricular assist devices & clinical/outcomes - research preferred
  • Fellowship trained in pediatric cardiology
  • Completion of an additional advanced heart failure training program
  • Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatrics & Pediatric Cardiology
  • Physician MD/DO licensed in Indiana or eligible
