About St. Christopher's Hospital for Children

St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, a partnership between Tower Health and Drexel University, is a 188-bed facility that provides exceptional care to children throughout the Greater Philadelphia area and surrounding counties.

With more than 220 pediatric experts on staff, St. Christopher's Hospital for Children combines top-notch pediatric care with a wide array of pediatric specialties, including Cardiology, Ear, Nose and Throat, Gastroenterology, Oncology, and Orthopedics. It houses the only Verified Pediatric Only Burn Center between New York City and Baltimore and is one of only three Level I Pediatric Trauma Centers in Pennsylvania. Job Summary

The Section of Pediatric Nephrology at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia seeks a full-time pediatric nephrologist to join 3 other pediatric nephrologists in an actively growing program. We have a large dialysis population and an active kidney transplant program. St. Chris is now part of Tower Health , a large non-profit healthcare system that covers 2.5 million people. In addition, St Chris is also part of Drexel University This affords a wealth of opportunities in academic medicine including both basic science and clinical research. Finally, we have a strong working relationship with the adult nephrologists in the Tower Health AND Temple Health systems.

The Section of Nephrology provides a full spectrum of acute and chronic renal replacement therapies (CCRT, PD and acute hemodialysis), plasmapheresis, Red Cell exchange for sickle cell patients, percutaneous renal biopsy, kidney transplant program, inpatient and outpatient management and consultation. The section has its own renal nutritionist/dietician and social worker. For you EMR enthusiasts St. Chris is implementing EPIC in February of 2021! Finally, we are active in several national quality improvement projects and research consortiums including SCOPE, NAPTRCS and MWPNC and will be joining IROC in 2021.

The successful candidate will possess strong clinical skills with a high interest in teaching. Our academic affiliation is with Drexel University College of Medicine, providing many opportunities as a teaching hospital to mentor and to train the next generation of professionals in pediatric medicine. There is also an opportunity to pursue quality improvement via several nationwide projects (SCOPE, NAPTRCS and IROC) and/or research interests, in particular as they relate to our multicultural community and clinical setting.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) and qualify for appointment as Assistant/Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Drexel University College of Medicine
  • BE/BC Pediatric Nephrology
  • Hold or be eligible for an unrestricted and unchallenged license to practice medicine in the state of Pennsylvania & in the state of New Jersey
  • Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience
  • The applicant should have excellent clinical and interpersonal skills
