The Duke Department of Pathology seeks a dynamic pathologist with excellent surgical pathology and cytopathology skills for a full-time position in the Community Pathology Division at Duke Raleigh Hospital. The division is comprised of seven pathologists dedicated to delivering accurate, concise and timely pathology services to patients and their physicians.

Ideal candidates will be excellent diagnosticians with superior communication skills who function well in a team setting. Demonstrated experience and/or additional training in areas of oncologic surgical pathology and subspecialty fellowship training in cytopathology are required. The position may include clinical laboratory oversight responsibilities, an excellent opportunity for candidates with an active interest in laboratory administration. Candidates must have an MD or DO degree, a valid NC medical license or qualifications to obtain one, ABP Board Certification in AP and CP, and subspecialty board certification in Cytopathology.

This position is based at Duke Raleigh Hospital, a 186-bed hospital with a comprehensive array of services. The service/patient care responsibilities are mixed between general surgical pathology and cytopathology, including on-site support of image-guided FNA and performance of FNA biopsies. Duke Raleigh Hospital is recognized as a community leader for compassionate care with distinct centers of clinical excellence, including oncology, providing an intellectually challenging and collegial work environment. There is opportunity for teaching/resident education as well as collaboration with the predominantly subspecialty-based pathology faculty at the main Duke campus. The community practice also provides pathology services at Duke Regional Hospital, a 369-bed acute care hospital serving Durham, Orange, and surrounding counties.
