Position Summary

Provide psychiatric outpatientservices for adults in the Center for Mental Health.

Essential Functions

• Provide direct patientservices including diagnostic evaluations, psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy,in the outpatient setting.

• Adheres to prescribingpractices that are safe and evidence based for the treatment of mental healthand substance use disorders, including buprenorphine and related medications. Obtainsappropriate and informed consent for medications trials prior to prescribing.

• Works withina multi-disciplinary treatment team and may act as a clinical team leaderfor the coordination and supervision of care provided across clinicaldisciplines, including providing guidance and leadership to other clinicians onthe team in formulating and implementing the treatment plan.

• Completes timelydocumentation of assessments, clinical interventions, progress, and dischargesummaries and updates electronic medical records as specified in medical staffregulations.

• Monitor risk indicatorsand take action to address risk management issues in a timely mannerto ensure client, staff and visitor safety, and to safeguard the Hospital fromadverse events. Includes consultation with peers and acting as aresource/consultant to other members of the treatment team.

• Acts as liaison andcommunicates effectively with outside providers, primary care physicians, andfamily members whenever possible.

• As assigned, willprovide rotational coverage to ensure continuity of psychiatriccoverage/consultation services during, day time hours, nights, weekends,vacations and holidays. Will ensure coverage has been appropriatelyscheduled during own absences.

• Provide supervision toselected medical students, residents and non-physician health professionals.

• Participates in MedicalStaff Committees and meetings as specified in Medical Staff regulations.

Qualifications

Experience Requirements:

Experience in adult outpatientservices, experience with a multidisciplinary team treatment model.

Licensure/CertificationsRequired:

Board Certified (orBoard Eligible if within 5 years of residency)

State of CT, Departmentof Public Health medical license; DEA; CCSR; Buprenorphine waiver; ClozapineREMS registration

Other:

Computerand keyboarding skills required.
