The Division of Cardiology at the University of Colorado on the has an immediate opening for Medical Director for Cardiac Imaging. The qualified non-invasive cardiologist with subspecialty training in advanced cardiac imaging will function as the section lead to oversee our echocardiography, CT, MRI, and nuclear cardiology services. This is an academic position on the Anschutz Medical Campus, which is the only academic medical center in the State of Colorado. The candidate will provide leadership in clinical, research, and teaching domains to further advance the cardiac multi-modality imaging program. Sub-directors of CT, MRI, nuclear, and satellite cardiac imaging will report to this position, and this position will report to the Chief of Cardiology. Divisional needs are such that an academic focus in echocardiography within the area of cardiac imaging would most likely create the best fit.

Qualifications:

The candidate should be board certified in Cardiovascular Medicine by the ABIM with additional Level III certification in echocardiography and a minimum of five years of experience. Candidates should be fully capable to perform TEE, stress echo, 3D echo, procedural image guidance, and other advanced echo procedures. The ideal candidate will:

  • possess a strong track record of expertise in cardiac imaging, including echocardiography
  • have the desire and skills to lead an advanced cardiac imaging team and day-to-day operations
  • articulate a vision for the future of cardiac imaging
  • have a meaningful clinical research background
  • be academically productive
  • be a talented educator

In addition to clinical service, there is both opportunity and expectation for academic work, including education, investigation/research, and administration, as well as advocacy. There will be protected time for these efforts with well-established support structure, breadth and depth in mentoring available within the Division, and expected benchmarks.
