Job Details

The Corporal Michael J Crescenz VA Medical Center and the University of Pennsylvania are seeking a MD or MD/PhD Cardiac Electrophysiologist who is board certified in in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases and board eligible in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology. The successful candidate will gain full\-time employment between both employers. Expected weekly hours at each location are 25 (VA) and 15 (University). 

EDRP: This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program. To participate in the program, you must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA Policy 1021 and submit your application within four months of appointment. The final award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office.

Work Schedule: Tour of duty is varying daylight hours, Monday through Friday; however, weekend and evening hours may occur when Veteran needs arise and includes attending in the Coronary Care Unit and inpatient Consultative Cardiology/ Electrophysiology Service.

Clinical responsibilities include:

  • Outpatient consultative cardiology (including Telehealth)
  • Inpatient attending on the coronary care unit and consultative services
  • Faculty appointment as Clinical Instructor or Assistant Professor of Medicine in the non-tenure Academician-Clinician tract.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • United States Citizenship
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Completion of residency training, or its equivalent
  • Board certification or eligible in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology (CCEP)
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English

Preferred Experience:

  • Trans-septal puncture
  • Advanced arrhythmia ablation including AF and VT ablation
  • Epicardial mapping
  • Cardiac arrhythmia management devices including the implantation of pacemakers, ICDs, CRT devices, loop recorders, and lead extraction
  • Complex arrhythmia ablations and device implantations without onsite cardiac surgery availability
  • Cardioversion, resuscitation, and temporary pacing
  • Teaching medical students, house staff, and cardiology fellows
  • A research background in atrial and ventricular tachyarrhythmia mechanisms and treatment
