Halifax Health is seeking a board certified/eligible Medical Oncologist/Hematologist to join our comprehensive accredited cancer program. Halifax Health Center for Oncology consists of 12 employed Oncologists providing Hematology, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Gynecologic Oncology services to four locations in our primary service area. The Center for Oncology is involved in clinical trials and offers the area's only hereditary risk/genetic assessment program. In addition, ancillary services available on site are: patient navigation, survivorship along with a specially trained full-time oncology nutritionist, oncology trained financial counselor, and a robust social services team. All employed Medical Oncologists are board certified in Hematology and Oncology.

Halifax Health is the area’s only Level II Trauma Center serving the Volusia County community since 1928. Halifax Health is the area's largest tertiary healthcare provider. The main campus is located in Daytona Beach with 678 licensed beds, there is an 80-bed community hospital; Halifax Health Medical Center of Port Orange and a free standing Emergency Department in Deltona where a 90-bed hospital opened in February 2020. Halifax Health has over 500 physicians on its Medical Staff representing more than 46 medical specialties.  

Daytona Beach is rich with history, in addition to the 23 miles of white sand beaches, the community is overflowing with sporting venues, museums, band shell concerts, night life, parks, wildlife, water activities, and family fun. There are excellent private and public schools including a top 10 ranked International Baccalaureate high school. There are three Universities including Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University which is ranked in the top 5 for small private engineering schools.

Job Details/Qualifications:

  • Full-time, Employed position
  • Must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Internal Medicine, Oncology and Hematology
  • Must hold US citizenship or permanent residency
  • Must obtain a Florida license
  • Well trained in reputable undergraduate and graduate (medical) programs; top of the class and chief assignments
  • Minimal academic assignments/positions, majority of his/her career shall be in large (multiple locations) private or hospital based practice. Preferable hospital based in a taxing district, safety net environment (part of his/her career)
  • Clean (zero claims) malpractice record
  • Mid-point in his/her career
  • Physician Governance Council allows for physician input into strategic planning and operational policies for the employed physician group

Schedule– work day and call:

  • Outpatient clinic – Monday through Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm
  • Call schedule – Every 7th weekend, every 7th night

Average number of patients seen per physician per day:

  • 2 New outpatients
  • 15-20 Office visits

Percentage of the practice that is geriatric – pediatric:

  • All adult and geriatric patients – no pediatric

Estimated payor mix:

  • 42% Medicare and Medicare HMO
  • 45% HMO / PPO
  • 4% District Charity/Institutional
  • 5% Medicaid
  • 4% Other

  • 18 RNs (9 in Daytona, 4 in Ormond, 3 at Bert Fish, 2 Port Orange)
  • 3 Medical Assistants (1 Daytona, 1 Ormond, 1 Port Orange)
  • 4 Pharmacists (1 per location)
  • 14 Clerical / business support staff
  • 1 Practice Manager
  • 1 Department Coordinator
