VA Boston Healthcare System – Veterans Health Administration

VA Boston Healthcare System (VABHS) is recruiting for a full-time Women’s Health Primary Care Physician to care for female Veterans at two interdisciplinary Comprehensive Women’s Health Centers in Metro Boston (Jamaica Plain and Brockton, MA). The successful candidate will be board-certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine with strong interests in the care of women Veterans, medical education, and population health. Care is provided using a strong team-based approach while working collaboratively with gynecology, psychology, and other co-located specialties. This is a weekday position with no on-call responsibilities, and no clinic hours during nights, weekends, or holidays.

VA Primary Care Physicians care for a complex panel of Veteran patients in collaborative teams where each patient develops longitudinal relationships with the entire team. Practices are supported by clinical pharmacists, dieticians, and social workers. Panel sizes are approximately 1,000 patients per full-time physician (pro-rated for less than full-time) and appointment lengths are 60 minutes for new patients and 30 minutes for all other appointments. The physician is supported by multiple support staff including registered nurses and licensed practical nurses. The VA utilizes a national electronic medical record and is known for delivering high quality, evidence-based care within a culture of continuous improvement.

As New England's premier referral center for Veterans' healthcare, VABHS has strong and long-standing affiliations with top universities such as Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) and Harvard Medical School (HMS). Our medical center campuses are located in Brockton, Jamaica Plain, and West Roxbury with quick access to the heart of the city. Practicing at the VA Boston Healthcare System means supporting the Medical Center's mission to serve our Veterans.

VA Boston Healthcare System offers teaching opportunities for both medical students and medical residents in the inpatient and outpatient arenas. As a member of the VA Boston Healthcare System and Department of Medicine, a faculty appointment at an appropriate rank may be offered based on involvement in teaching.

To be eligible, full, active and unrestricted license in any state is required. In this position, a Massachusetts license will also be expected to support certain state agency requirements by effective date of hire. Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Compensation will be competitive with major academic medical centers in the region. In addition to competitive pay and liability protection, we offer a generous leave and benefits package. For more information on federal employee benefits, visit: www.opm.gov/healthcare-insurance. The Education Debt Reduction Program may be available under all program rules and regulations.

VABHS, HMS, and BUSM are Equal Opportunity Employers and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
