The Division of Pediatric Pulmonology is seeking an energetic and collaborative individual who is committed to outstanding patient care and educational excellence. The successful candidate will join our pediatric pulmonology group that includes 4 experienced pediatric pulmonologists and a dedicated pediatric nurse practitioner. This position will be a blend of office-based outpatient care and hospital inpatient consultations, primarily located in Danville, Pa. Services we provide include lung function/challenge testing, exercise testing, bronchoscopy, sleep studies and a multi-disciplinary pediatric sleep medicine program, a chronic ventilator program, fully accredited CF center, and many certified asthma educators. We are also fortunate to have support from the integrated insurance program, Geisinger Health Plan, in delivering in-home care and environmental assessments for patients with asthma. There may be some outreach however we are supported by a telemedicine program and "Ask-A-Doc" programs have the potential to extend consultative care to remote areas.
The Department of Pediatrics provides the full range of inpatient medical and surgical subspecialty services, including pediatric hospitalists, critical care, nephrology, gastroenterology, cardiology, genetics, infectious disease and the full spectrum of pediatric surgical subspecialties. We have active outpatient services including outreach clinics in general and subspecialty pediatrics.
Teaching and mentorship responsibilities include medical students from several affiliated institutions, and residents in our fully accredited categorical Pediatric and Internal Medicine/Pediatric residency programs. An academic teaching appointment is available through Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine. Many resources and opportunities exist to conduct clinical and translational research and in particular within the Genomic Medicine Institute.
The position requires board eligibility/certification in Pediatric Pulmonology and PA license.
Janet Weis Children's Hospital (JWCH), located on GMC's campus in Danville, is the regions only dedicated 5-floor, 91 bed children's hospital with a full-service hospitalist and intensive care services. JWCH's team of medical and surgical specialists provide care in over 30 pediatric specialties, including a 41 bed Level IV NICU and 14 bed Level I PICU. JWCH provides medical malpractice insurance with tail coverage.
