The Department of Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University is currently accepting Internal Medicine physician applications and nominations for the role of Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine within Temple’s General Internal Medicine Comprehensive HIV Program.

This position provides an excellent opportunity for an internal medicine physician interested in gaining HIV expertise within the primary care setting, while developing competencies in MAT and HepC treatment. Previous HIV experience not required.

The Section of General Internal Medicine at Temple University School of Medicine has a mission to provide excellence in patient care, education and research. Our faculty provide comprehensive, patient-centered primary care to our patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, while teaching the fundamentals of general internal medicine to the health care providers of the future. Faculty are involved in numerous educational and research programs in areas such as clinical skills training, physician-patient communications, ambulatory medical education, and clinical trials. Currently there are 23 full-time faculty whose interests include medical education, obesity, hypertension, HIV Medicine with hepatitis C, medication assisted treatment programs, acupuncture, and geriatrics.

The Temple GIM Comprehensive HIV Program provides multidisciplinary primary and HIV specialty care for over 1,200 patients. Services include routine and specialized gynecological procedures, prenatal consultative care, nutritional counseling and assessment, case management hepatitis C, and medication assisted treatment and access to clinical trials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide primary and HIV care to patients within the Temple Comprehensive HIV program.
  • Provide general primary care within the Temple General Internal Medicine.
  • Participate in medical student and resident precepting within the HIV and GIM programs.

Candidate Qualifications

  • MD or MD/PhD with active Board Certification or Eligibility in Internal Medicine.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Credentials for a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level or above.
  • Active participation in national organizations and committees such as the Society of General Internal Medicine or the American College of Physicians.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to the culture, needs, and aspirations of the community.
  • Linguistic competence in Spanish preferred but not required.
