Overview

Due to extensive growth and community need, Reading Hospital/Tower Health is seeking a Neurointerventional Vascular Neurologist to join our very busy Comprehensive Stroke Program in our growing Neuroscience program. This is an employed position joining a Neuroscience team of 20+ Neurologists and 7 Neuorsurgeons.

Neuroscience Center is a multi-subspecialty clinical service line addressing the needs in the seven (7) Tower Health hospitals in 4 counties of Southeast PA. Reading Hospital is in the final stages of developing a Comprehensive Stroke Program to deal with the growing volume and acuity. The Stroke Center has a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary stroke team with a state of art stroke unit and is supported by a technologically advanced endovascular treatment program and a Neuro ICU with 4 fellowship trained Neurointensivists. The stroke program is driven by the busiest Emergency Department in PA with over 135,000 visits per year with call primarily being done by telestroke.

Drexel University College of Medicine at Tower Health have partnered to expand opportunities for medical training in the region. The partnership is will improve patient access to highly-trained, skilled providers, while also addressing projected physician shortages and positively impacting the local community and economy. Tower Health has joined forces with Drexel University to build an additional location for the university's College of Medicine in West Reading, less than one mile from the Reading Hospital campus. This collaboration will bring undergraduate and graduate clinical education and research to a single campus. The new campus will be completed in time for the 2021-2022 academic year. When fully operational, the campus will train 200 medical school students.

Most recently, Tower Health & Drexel University partnered to acquire St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia which adds the much needed Pediatric acute care to the expanding health system. St. Christopher's provides care to more than 100,000 children annually.

Job Summary

The Neurointerventionalist will be the 4th member of the Interventional group joining a very experienced Stroke Team with layered support to include APCs. This position will be the The opportunity provides a wide ranging involvement in Vascular/Stroke Neurology with high acuity and volume due to the busiest Emergency Department in Pennsylvania. This Neurology position provides the opportunity to participate in the final development of the Comprehensive Stroke Program and the ideal candidate also has the potential of becoming the Stroke Medical Director.

Qualifications

Position Requirements: MD or DO; Candidates must be licensed/eligible to practice medicine in Pennsylvania and BE/BC in Neurology, Neurointerventional Vascular Neurology.
