Associate Research Scientist

The Gharavi lab in the Division of Nephrology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking an Associate Research Scientist to conduct NIH-funded research focusing on the molecular genetics of kidney diseases in humans and mouse models. The projects will employ state-of-the-art genomics and bioinformatics approaches (exome, whole genomes, RNA-seq, DNA microarray) in humans and animal models to identify susceptibility genes and apply Precision Medicine approaches to kidney failure. Applicants should have prior experience in genetics, bioinformatics, developmental biology, and/or programming to handle large Next-Gen sequencing datasets. The training can be tailored to prepare candidates for positions in academia or industry.
Qualifications: All applicants should have a PhD or MD/PhD, excellent oral and written communication skills, advanced organizational skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently.
