The Department of Medicine in The Robert Larner, MD College of Medicine at the University of Vermont (UVM) and the University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMMC) seeks an outstanding physician scholar with a record of significant contributions in clinical care, teaching, and scholarship to serve as Division Chief for Hospital Medicine. This position will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor in the Clinical Scholar Pathway. Reporting to the Chair of Medicine and working in collaboration with the division chiefs of the Department’s 13 other subspecialties, the new Chief will oversee and further develop the Division’s outstanding clinical service, educational, and research programs.

The Chief will lead a growing division committed to excellence in clinical care that currently includes 30 faculty and seven advanced practice providers. This team of dedicated professionals are also key contributors to the education of our residents in Internal Medicine and our medical students who are members of our inpatient and consultation teams.

Scholarship is an important part of the Division’s work and strong collaborative research opportunities exist with rapidly growing and established programs in key areas including Health Services Research, Improvement Science, Cardiovascular Medicine, Lung Disease, and Geriatrics.

Together, the UVM Larner College of Medicine and UVMMC comprise the only tertiary/quaternary academic medical center in Vermont and offer state-of-the-art clinical, research, and educational facilities. UVMMC is part of the University of Vermont Health Network with hospitals in Vermont and upstate New York.

Requirements include an MD (or equivalent) degree, board certification in Internal Medicine, and eligibility for licensure in the State of Vermont. The ideal candidate will be an experienced clinician with demonstrated excellence in teaching, scholarship, and leadership. The candidate will have a record of successful collaborations and mentorship of faculty at all stages of career development. It is expected that candidates will have credentials appropriate for an appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor at the University of Vermont.
