The University of Chicago: Biological Sciences Division: Department of Medicine

The University of Chicago's Department of Medicine, Section of Hematology/Oncology, and the University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center are searching for a full-time Associate Professor or Professor. The appointee will join an established group of nationally-known physicians, researchers, and educators and will direct the operations of the Developmental Therapeutics Program. The Director will be principally responsible for the operation of the program; work closely with others within the Hematology/Oncology Section to manage the program budget and personnel; be charged with growing the Developmental Therapeutics Program’s robust early phase clinical trial portfolio with an emphasis on molecular oncology through integral collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry, the National Cancer Institute, and other academic institutions; and interact closely with other disease Program Leaders and leaders within the Cancer Center to facilitate a coalesced, integrated, and well-balanced clinical trial portfolio. Clinical responsibilities include the care of ambulatory and admitted patients, including the care of patients with rare solid tumors and malignant diseases. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be BC/BE in Hematology and/or Oncology, 4) have leadership experience in managing a complex clinical research portfolio, and 5) have successfully led, completed, and published early-phase investigator-initiated trials. Selection will consider knowledge of clinical trial design and pharmacology and ability to collaborate and work as a team with colleagues, especially from the other hematology/oncology disease programs.
