Assistant / Associate Professor, Medicine – Infectious Diseases (Req. # F-9849-19-09-F)
Required Qualifications
MD or equivalent. Board Certified in Internal Medicine. Board Certified/Eligible in Infectious Diseases with a minimum of two years post-doctoral research experience or equivalent research experience, funding track record, and relevant publications.
Preferred Qualifications
Focus on translational or basic research, area of interest to include but not limited to, microbial pathogens, global health immunology and/or cancer related infections.
Responsibilities & Requirements
The Infectious Disease division in the Department of Medicine at Stony Brook University is searching for a physician scientist at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. This division has a busy in and outpatient service (general ID and HIV) at SBUH and is affiliated with at VA teaching hospital. This is a full-time position reporting directly to the Chief of Infectious Diseases. The assistant/associate professor will be responsible for research, patient care and teaching. The selected incumbent will be expected to develop an independent research program supported by extramural funding.
Eligibility for tenure will be based upon applicants' qualifications and experience. To qualify for tenure and/or a senior faculty appointment, the candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Medicine (School of Medicine's Criteria for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure).
Special Notes
This is a tenure track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible.
