The Ohio State University College of Medicine and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center seek an accomplished and innovative scientist to serve as the inaugural Director of its Comprehensive Addiction Center. This is an extraordinary opportunity for a collaborative leader to build the Comprehensive Addiction Center that will advance the understanding of addiction and to develop effective treatments and prevention for the disease. The Ohio State Comprehensive Addiction Center's mission is to end addiction and its devastating effects on individuals, families, and communities. Housed within The Ohio State University College of Medicine, the Comprehensive Addiction Center will work across departments, institutes, colleges, communities, and governmental agencies, and address all facets of addiction. The Center aims to study the disease from the molecular level to downstream public health implications. With this comprehensive focus, the Center will develop novel therapies, clinical care pathways, community interventions, and other translational research methodologies to end addiction in Ohio and disseminate these nationally and internationally. The Center will be critical in combating the opioid epidemic that has affected many Ohioans and will serve as the nexus for combating opioid and other addictions both regionally and nationally. The Center Director will set forth the collaborative structure necessary to study this crisis and other addiction research endeavors across the institution and the state. S/he will coordinate multidisciplinary efforts to tackle the basic science, translational science, medical, and public health issues surrounding addiction to best serve Ohioans and the U.S. This leader will serve as an advocate for addressing substance abuse and addiction in the local community, region, state, and nation. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader and distinguished clinical, translational, or laboratory scientist to build a comprehensive research program in one of the nation's top-regarded healthcare and academic delivery systems. This leader will work in concert with other department leaders in the College of Medicine and also within Ohio State, academic institutions across the state's 88 counties, governmental agencies, and community organizations. The successful candidate will be an MD, MD/PhD, PhD, or equivalent degree, whose vision will propel Ohio State to become a national leader in addressing the addiction crisis both at the regional and national level. Candidates should have an active NIH-funded research program, be able to recruit, mentor, and build partnerships, and possess strong leadership acumen. It is anticipated that the Director will hold an appointment at the rank of Professor with tenure in the Departments of her/his specialty, report to the Dean of the College of Medicine, and work in close partnership with relevant departments and centers across the University.
