Baptist Health, Arkansas’ largest not-for-profit health system, is seeking candidates for the position of Physician Advisor – Utilization Review and Clinical Documentation Improvement for the system’s flagship Hospital.

In following the vision, belief, mission, and values of Baptist Health, the Physician Advisor will be a transformational, patient-centered, and compassionate leader. In addition, they will support the organizational mission, support the hospital through teaching and consulting, and advise the Clinical Documentation Improvement and Utilization Review departments and the hospital leadership. This physician leader will champion an effective partnership with administration and physicians.

Additionally, the Physician Advisor will develop and offer expertise on matters of physician practice patterns, over- and under-utilization of resources, medical necessity, levels of care, denial management, compliance, and governmental and private payer regulations, appropriate physician coding, and documentation requirements.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is board certified in their medical discipline and eligible for medical licensure/licensed in the State of Arkansas. Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrable track record of working collaboratively with a diverse medical staff is necessary to be successful in this role.

Additional preferred qualifications include:

  • Values and embraces organization mission
  • Solid foundation, knowledge, and/or experience in the areas of utilization management, quality improvement, and patient safety
  • Broad technical base to include appropriate computer skills and EMR expertise
  • Familiarity with MCG/InterQual placement status criteria is preferred
  • Special consideration for past Physician Advisor experience

Central Arkansas experiences all four seasons as well with high temperatures in the low 90s in July and August and average lows in the mid to low 30s in December and January.  

For weekend getaways, there are many options easily accessible by automobile. Whether you have a few hours or an entire day, Hot Springs National Park, the nearby Ozark Mountains, and magnificent River Valley offer great getaway options. For airline travel, Little Rock has a convenient national airport with domestic flights offered by American Airlines, Delta, Southwest, United and others.
