Hospital Medicine Non Standard Fellowship Physician

Geisinger Wyoming Valley is Seeking Candidates for Unique, Non-Traditional, Hospital Medicine Fellowship Opportunities

Geisinger has several openings within our Hospital Medicine Fellowship in its three tracks. The ideal candidates will have completed an ACGME or AOA accredited residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine and have the interest in career development. Physicians with clinical experience or in leadership positions, who are interested in advancing their skills and enhancing their knowledge in the field of Inpatient Medicine, are encouraged to apply.

These non-ACGME-accredited fellowship programs are designed to provide comprehensive training opportunities in the hospital medicine. The programs' curricula provide trainees with increased knowledge and improved skills in healthcare delivery in the inpatient settings, through clinical rotations, didactic sessions, quality improvement projects, and other learning opportunities. The three programs are all located at our fully-integrated, nationally recognized, Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, PA, and include:

Fellowship in Hospital Medicine (Clinical)

· 12 months program to train young physicians to become outstanding Hospitalists

· Curriculum based on SHM core competencies

· Ideal for Internal Medicine and Family Medicine residents

Leadership in Hospital Medicine (Administrative)

· 12 months program to train physicians to be leaders in medicine

· Half clinical, half administrative

· Ideal for established Hospitalists, chief residents, and physicians in leadership positions

· Curriculum based on the American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL) courses and competencies

· The Credits earned can be used towards achieving a Certified Physician Executive (CPE) designation

· This structured curriculum covers the fundamentals in healthcare leadership and prepares physicians to earn a higher degree (MBA, MMM, MHA).

Advanced Practice in Hospital Medicine (Intensivist)

· 24 months program to train hospitalists to become intensivists

· Half hospitalist, half fellow in critical care medicine

· Curriculum similar to ACGME-accredited fellowship in critical care

· Ideal for Internal Medicine and Family Medicine residents interested in critical care
