The Department of General Internal Medicine is a top-tier department with world-renowned faculty and staff. With world-class research, teaching, and medical practice opportunities, why not choose the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine?

The Section of Hospital Medicine is seeking BE Internal Medicine physicians to provide care on a Hospital Medicine ward service and on the Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) service at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and also undertake teaching activities in the Department's Graduate Medical Education program.

Job Summary/Duties: The BMT Hospitalists will provide the nocturnist coverage of the Hematology/Oncology service during 12-hour night shifts. The responsibilities include clinical, research, and teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.

Schedule: The 12-hour BMT night shifts are typically scheduled in 1-week blocks (i.e., one week on, one week off). Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-house, overnight cross coverage for BMT service.
  • Lead “rapid response” and “code blue” teams.
  • Monitor progress of admitted patients, adjust therapeutic interventions, and engage specialty consultation when appropriate.

  • Serve as attending on traditional residency ward teams and medical consultation service, which includes teaching activities with resident physicians and medical students, and lead a hospitalist team including an intern.
  • Strive to improve clinical processes, as well as patient care, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
  • Participate in the quality improvement framework of the units.
  • Collaborate with researchers in the Center for Clinical Effectiveness and Center for Health Informatics.
  • Regularly attend section/divisional/departmental meetings and educational events, as assigned.
