The Division of Hematology and Cellular Therapy of the Allegheny Health Network Cancer Institute seeks to employ two board certified Hematologists with benign hematology experience. Special interest in the development of a program in hemoglobinopathy to include sickle cell disease and a program in hemophilia is preferred; however, candidates with other interests in benign hematology are also invited to apply. Clinical responsibility includes attending on the benign hematology consult services and associated clinics. We are a multi-disciplinary team of physicians, nurse coordinators, advanced practice providers, nurse navigator, clinical pharmacists, and support staff, who strive to provide compassionate and exemplary care to those we serve.

The Division directs a reference laboratory for specialized testing of disorders of coagulation.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in teaching and mentoring of students, interns, residents, and fellows. Direct responsibility for fellowship teaching as a member of key clinical faculty is desirable. Faculty are encouraged to conduct clinical research and serve as investigators for a robust clinical trial program within the Division. Laboratory based research facilities are available to qualified candidates.

Consult services and clinics are staffed at the two tertiary care teaching hospitals of the Allegheny Health Network. West Penn Hospital located in the Bloomfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh and Allegheny General Hospital on the North Side. The program in hemostasis and thrombosis serves as the referral center of the Allegheny Health Network for patients with complicated disorders of bleeding and clotting. The division is comprised of eight physicians specializing in various areas of hematology including three benign hematologists as well as five hematologists with expertise in hematological malignancy.
