Duke Community and Family Medicine is seeking a full-time, board-certified family physician (MD or DO) to join a thriving and highly innovative faculty practice which is testing new models of care and innovations in education and research. The physician will see a diverse population of patients and provide direct clinical care in addition to teaching residents and students, and participating in care redesign and engagement in research. Ideal applicants would have experience in a teaching family medicine practice that includes physician assistants, nurse midwives and/or nurse practitioners. Obstetrical care is not required, but preference will be given to candidates with an expressed interest, experience and/or credentials in one or more of the following areas of expertise: musculoskeletal care, sports medicine, or centering prenatal care.

The Duke Family Medicine Division is dedicated to improving the health of populations and communities in Durham and surrounding counties. As one of the first certified Patient Centered Medical Homes in the US, and one of the development sites for the early concepts, the Division houses the Duke Family Medicine Center, the Family Medicine Residency Program, the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship, family medicine student programs, and faculty development programs. The Division is involved in many initiatives with other Departments, Divisions, and units within Duke Medicine, including Duke Primary Care, the Physician Assistant and Physical Therapy Programs, the Primary Care Leadership Track of the School of Medicine, Duke Community Health and its extensive array of community programs, the Masters Program in Clinical Leadership, and the Duke Center for Community Research.

The Duke Family Medicine Center is one of the largest primary care sites in the area with approximately 35,000 visits annually. It serves as an important link to Duke's excellent tertiary medical center and the community. The practice is modeled on a team-based approach to care that focuses on the needs of patients and evidence-based care. The practice serves as an institutional test-bed for innovative approaches to care and is continually developing new methods for prevention of illness and management of chronic diseases.

Applicants at the Assistant or Associate Professor level will be accepted. Track and rank will be commensurate with experience and academic credentials. Candidates must have demonstrated excellence in clinical care and education. Duke faculty enjoys a generous compensation and benefits, including tuition assistance for college-age children.
