Excellent Full-time Advanced Heart Failure Opening – Western Connecticut Health Network – Fairfield County, Connecticut

Western Connecticut Medical Group is seeking a full-time, employed, Advanced Heart Failure Specialist to join our three-hospital system as we expand network Cardiology services. Our Network includes Danbury, Norwalk, and New Milford Hospitals in addition to our employed medical group and over 70 outpatient practice offices. Our medical group includes over a dozen employed cardiologists and cardiac advanced practitioners. We are located in Fairfield County, Connecticut, about 50 miles outside of New York City. 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating care for advanced heart failure services in partnership with an academic medical center;
  • In and outpatient consultation for Norwalk and Danbury patient populations;
  • Management of patients on mechanical support in inpatient and outpatient setting;
  • Continued management of readmission reduction and CHF care pathways; and,
  • Continued education for network providers/trainees on relevant and practical CHF topics.

Danbury Hospital’s Emergency Department is an accredited Level II Trauma Center, a Stroke Center and a Chest Pain Center, offering 24-hour interventional cardiology. Cardiac services at the hospital include Nuclear Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology,  Arrhythmia Center, and a robust cardiac surgical program. A comprehensive multidisciplinary structural heart program provides state-of-the-art care for the patients of WCHN. Norwalk Hospital, a Level II Trauma Center, is accredited as a Stroke Center and certified to provide Emergency Angioplasty for heart attack.

The ideal candidate will be board certified in Cardiology and board certified/eligible in Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology and looking to join a dedicated and collegial team. We offer a highly competitive compensation package, including base salary plus incentives and allowances for CMEs and Dues expenses as well as relocation stipend.

Established in 1885, Danbury Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital providing Greater Danbury area residents convenient access to exceptional care. Danbury Hospital has 371 beds and approximately 70,000 ED visits per year. Norwalk Hospital has 366 beds and approximately 50,000 ED visits per year. Both Danbury and Norwalk are teaching hospitals, associated with the University of Vermont College of Medicine, Ross University, American University of the Caribbean, and Yale School of Medicine. Western Connecticut Medical Group, also part of the Network, includes 400+ physicians and 150+ advanced practice providers, serving a geographically broad region throughout Western Connecticut and eastern New York with over 70 outpatient practice locations.

Danbury, Connecticut, located in Fairfield County, is about 60 miles northeast of New York City and 60 miles west of Hartford, CT. As part of the greater NY metropolitan area, the city of Danbury enjoys both proximity to New York City culture and access to a wide array of outdoor activities. Surrounded by a number of quaint towns with scenic rolling hills, the area offers a variety of excellent housing and school options. Boston, New York City, New Haven, and Hartford are easily accessible via train, car, or bus. 

Astride a hill with a commanding view of the Long Island Sound, Norwalk Hospital serves a varied and attractive region of Southern Connecticut. The hospital is just minutes from beautiful places to hike, swim, sail, or just walk along the beach. Connecticut Magazine recently named South Norwalk as the “hottest” nightspot between Boston and New York City, with a plethora of theater groups and restaurants to choose from. New York City is easily accessible by car or train.
