The Department of Pathology, Duke University Health System is seeking an outstanding candidate for a mid-level or above, full-time position as an academic gastrointestinal (GI) and liver pathologist at the Associate or Full Professor level. Duke University Health System has enjoyed significant recent expansion, and more growth is anticipated in the near future.

The ideal successful candidate would be an excellent diagnostician with a deep interest in teaching who functions well in a team setting. Demonstrated clinical and/or translational research experience is desirable. Candidates must have an MD or DO degree and a valid NC medical license or qualifications to obtain one, and be ABP Board Certified in Anatomic Pathology. Previous GI/Liver fellowship training or an equivalent is necessary.

The individual would be expected to participate in a busy clinical service which includes sign out of GI biopsies, liver biopsies, transplant biopsies, and large resection specimens. The ability to cover frozen sections and to rotate occasionally onto another subspecialty bench is desirable.

The surgical pathology section of our department processes over 50,000 accessions and the clinical laboratories perform over 16 million tests annually.
