Hospitalist Medical Director Needed in Portland

Adventist Health Portland seeks an experienced Board-Certified internal medicine physician to join the OHSU-Adventist Hospitalist Service group. This is a community hospitalist Medical Director position leading 21 attending hospitalists. Community hospitalist experience is preferred. This role is a 0.5 administrative and 0.5 clinical position. The hospitalists maintain an open ICU, serving as the attending on most medical ICU patients, while collaborating with the pulmonary/critical care attendings who round daily and are available for assistance 24/7. Clinical duties include standard internal medicine procedures, occasional night shifts, and working at least 7 twelve-hour shifts per month in a half-time clinical role. Our clinical scheduling offers flexibility for physician preference, outside of the traditional 7 on 7 off schedule.

Administrative duties include hospitalist peer mentorship, facilitating close collaboration with other physician groups, the OHSU transfer center, care management, nursing leadership and clinical documentation team. The Medical Director works closely with an administrative dyad partner, leads a monthly practice meeting, participates in hospital committees, peer review and utilization management and is actively involved in hospitalist recruitment and retention.
