Overview
Reading Hospital/Tower Health is seeking a Chair of Family & Community Medicine who will provide exemplary leadership to a Department that is committed to sustaining a tradition of excellence in clinical care and education. The next Chair will arrive at a pivotal juncture in the Department's history: a time of renewal and growth. As a leader within the system, the Chair will be a significant contributor to efforts that will expand the reach and cohesiveness of the clinical enterprise. Bringing together physicians from the community and the medical group, the Chair will have an opportunity to create an inclusive culture to harness the cohesive power of Family & Community Medicine throughout the system. She/he will be a strong advocate, leading the department through change management as it becomes a more effective, strategic contributor to the health system. Very few Family Medicine programs have the depth and breadth of this Department, which is eager for a strong leader to unleash its untapped potential.
The Department, which includes 75 physicians and 25 advanced practitioners, is the heart and soul of Reading Hospital. Covering the largest geographic range of any services throughout the health system, the Department is a leader in quality. Housed within the Department is a thriving residency program with 24 residents, which prepares the next generation of physicians for careers in family medicine and community-based practice. With innovation in mind, the Department is also in the process of advancing its academic rigor by establishing additional research programs and clinical trials.
Job Summary
The Chair will be expected to lead the Department in a manner that contributes to the success of Reading Hospital's mission and exemplifies the qualities of leadership, collaboration, communication, and fairness.
In addition to the above, the Chair will be specifically held accountable for the following:
• Assume a leadership position within the institution to foster and integrate family medicine services to meet the needs of the growing clinical enterprise;
• Contribute to the development and improvement of primary care services and programs throughout the Tower Health system;
• Develop the academic careers of existing providers, and recruit and mentor outstanding new providers;
• Identify collaborative relationships which can lead to productive development of innovative educational programs and research activities through the institution;
• Collaborate with faculty of other clinical departments in the continued development of the clinical enterprise and foster clinical research collaborations;
• Evaluate the current strengths of the Department, and identify areas for productive growth in clinical, educational and research programs.

Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree and a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine.
- Recognition in the field of Family Medicine as evidenced by involvement in academic and clinical societies at a national level.
- Minimum of five (5) years of physician leadership experience.
