Baystate Health, located in Western MA, is seeking an experienced and collaborative Board Certified Trauma Surgeon to join our surgery leadership team as Chief, Division of Trauma, Acute Care Surgery, and SICU. This position will play a key role in advancing the mission, operations and service of the division within the Department of Surgery.

Ideal candidate should be a regionally or nationally recognized surgeon with a record of collaborative leadership and the ability to lead a high volume and growing program. Candidates should demonstrate outstanding emotional intelligence and strong leadership abilities, be dedicated to education, excel at mentoring and teaching, have the expertise to work effectively across reporting lines in an inclusive and collaborative manner. Located in Springfield, MA, Baystate Medical Center (BMC) is Baystate Health’s flagship hospital. BMC is a 716-bed, independent academic medical center and a training site for the University of Massachusetts Medical School - Baystate. We offer over 30 residency and fellowship programs. BMC is busiest single site emergency department in MA with over 125,000 visits annually and the region’s only Level 1 Trauma Center and pediatric trauma center in the area. The Division of Trauma manages nearly 2,000 trauma activations annually. BMC is one of the most active sites in the country for innovation and performing cutting edge methods such as the rib fixation program. The nationally recognized team of surgeons provide the highest level of trauma, acute care surgery and surgery critical care to patients of all ages. The Department of Surgery, chaired by Dr. Nicolas Jabbour, boasts over 60 employed surgeons and 50 advanced practitioners managing over 35,000 surgeries annually. The surgical academic program includes a residency and fellowships, including SICU fellowship, one of the first SIM labs in the nation, and 3 robots. The residency program has 6 chiefs per year with plans to expand to 7 chiefs next year. An onsite robust simulation lab and robotic OR program are tied closely with the residency program.
