Geisinger is seeking an experienced (3+ years) physician board certified in both hematology and oncology to join this team. This position involves inpatient and outpatient clinical responsibilities. The team is supported by an advanced practitioner, specialty nurses, nurse navigator, and specially trained infusion nurses. The Hematology/Oncology Clinic and infusion room are located within the Lewistown Hospital. Radiation Oncology services are located on site. There is the opportunity to participate in both general and hematology-focused tumor boards as well as an active Cancer Committee. There is the opportunity to build strong professional relationships and a practice in a hospital that is supported by its community, administration, and employees.

This highly motivated team utilizes a personalized, innovative, multidisciplinary approach to patient care with a commitment to evidence-based practice and evaluation of outcomes. The hematology/oncology team collaborates with surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists and psychologists to develop a plan tailored to the individual patient to achieve the best possible outcome. Geisinger's oncology research programs are anchored by the NCI Community Oncology Research Program cooperative agreement and the national commitment to cancer research in community settings. Geisinger has membership affiliations with Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, Children's Oncology Group, EGOG-ACRIN, NRG Oncology, University of Rochester Cancer Center and Wake Forest. Palliative medicine services are offered at the Geisinger Medical Center, Geisinger Wyoming Valley, and Geisinger Community Medical Center campuses and will be offered at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital in October of 2019. Working with Geisinger's Department of Oncology Innovation and Analytics, physicians have the opportunity to participate in the development of unique models of care, clinical tools and other research projects.
