Located in Springfield, MA, Baystate Medical Center (BMC) is Baystate Health’s flagship hospital. BMC is a 716-bed, independent academic medical center and a training site for the University of Massachusetts Medical School - Baystate. We offer over 30 residency and fellowship programs and have recently launched our new University of Massachusetts Medical School - Baystate regional medical school campus. BMC is a major referral care center and the only Level 1 trauma center and pediatric trauma center in the area. Academic Hospitalist
This is a faculty Hospitalist position in the Division of Hospital Medicine.
The academic hospitalist will demonstrate day-to-day practice excellence in throughput, quality, cost containment, and patient and family centered care as well as to actively participate in research, and. mentor and teach the next generation of internal medicine residents. A faculty appointment to UMass School of Medicine and an opportunity to teach medical students from the UMMS-Baystate Regional Campus.
Key Components of the position:
- As a member of the academic hospitalist team, this hospitalist is expected to attend simulations with residents, medical grand rounds and occasional didactic lectures at the residents’ educational sessions.
- Role modeling of exceptional clinical, teaching and communication skills in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment is expected.
- A team-based care model in a patient centric organization that cares for a culturally diverse and equally valued community.
- Department could provide financial support/protected time for the candidate who demonstrates an interest and promise in a clinical research career.
Candidates must be BC/BE by the American Board of Internal-Medicine. The ideal candidate would also be able to mentor academic faculty and residents in research projects and publications.
