The AtlantiCare Physician Group Urgent Care Associate Medical Director will support the Eastern Market locations, which include nine centers along the southern NJ coast, expanding from Manahawkin to Cape May Court House, NJ. The Associate Medical Director will report to the Urgent Care Medical Director and be accountable to this individual for peer review, clinical quality, and providing patient care clinical services. The Associate Medical Director will work collaboratively with the Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Urgent Care and RN Nurse Directors. 

This role will be responsible for positive group culture and will ensure high-quality, efficient, and consumer-friendly care for urgent care at all AtlantiCare locations. This exciting leadership role provides the opportunity for flexible work/life balance. One weekend per month is required, as well as two-three shifts per week (mix of 12-, 8- and 4-hour shifts) with the ability to work remotely to perform administrative tasks. Additional tasks will include assisting with physician recruitment, interviewing candidates, and applicant selection. You will have the ability to share your innovative ideas by implementing special projects, highlighting your strengths by incorporating urgent care best practices, and leading one of southeastern New Jersey’s largest urgent care networks.

Leadership Duties:

  • Develops strong professional relationships with each provider in order to foster an environment of trust and team-oriented behaviors.
  • Participates in monthly meetings with Urgent Care Medical Director. 
  • Monitors and achieves goals set forth in the urgent care scorecards. 
  • Develops and implements an APG urgent care quality improvement plan, best practice protocols, and clinical pathways conforming to both AtlantiCare and regulatory agency standards.
  • Participates in system performance improvement activities and/or assigns others as appropriate.
  • Leads physician strategies that align behaviors/actions to ensure an optimal patient experience and create patient loyalty.
  • Supports physician participation in all system-wide education and training. 
  • Encourages collaborative participation by all the APG urgent care providers with other specialties – supporting AtlantiCare First and Hub & Spoke initiatives.
  • Conducts onboarding and annual performance evaluations for providers in region and reviews with Medical Director.
  • Assists with the coordination planning, development, and execution of the employer’s urgent care center expansion and improvement projects.
  • Promotes a regional reputation of excellence. 
  • Co-leads monthly staff meetings with RN Directors. 
  • Performs physician chart reviews (3 per quarter/physician). 
  • Acts as collaborating physician for APNs and PAs. 
  • Performs APN and PA chart reviews (5 per month/APN, PA). 
  • Works closely with Medical Director to address concerns related to provider performance.
  • Participates in local/community events. 
  • Participates in other duties, as necessary.
