Unexpected opening in Northwell Health’s Zucker Hillside Hospital Geriatric Psychiatry Clinic. The Geriatric Psychiatry Clinic is a multi-disciplinary ambulatory program dedicated to the care of patients over age 65 years. Established in 1989 as a foundation block of the Geriatric Psychiatry Service, the clinic serves over 1,400 older registrants with heterogeneous diagnoses in a modern setting that is staffed by geriatric psychiatrists, gero-psychologists, gerontological social workers, geriatric psychiatry fellows, rotating R-3 general psychiatry residents, and diverse psychology trainees. Opportunities to participate in house officer supervision, emerging innovative programs (digital psychiatry applications; telepsychiatry), a collaborative care model commencing in March 2019 in partnership with Northwell’s House Calls program which engages approximately 1,300 homebound elderly enrollees; and research at the affiliated Litwin-Zucker Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and Zucker Hillside’s extensive ECT program.

Graduating fellows and residents welcome; geriatric psychiatry experience preferred; neuropsychiatry interest a plus. Employment package includes academic appointment at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell; a highly competitive salary; perquisites that include academic conference and organization dues cost reimbursement, college and graduate school contributions for eligible dependents, and comprehensive benefits, generous paid time off, and retirement plans. Additional earning potential via faculty practice and internal moonlighting opportunities.

LIJMC is located approximately 15 miles from Manhattan with nearby affordable housing in diverse communities with excellent school systems and access to many community resources (e.g. parks, beaches), and attractive shopping and restaurant choices.
