Moffitt Cancer Center is recruiting for a Dept. Chair, Thoracic Oncology. The Dept. of Thoracic Oncology (DTO) at Moffitt Cancer Center (MCC) is a multidisciplinary department including Medical Oncology, Thoracic Surgical Oncology, and Pulmonology. At Moffitt, the DTO strives to uphold excellence in the delivery of services and cutting edge research to improve patient outcomes. Our vision is to enhance our role as national/international leaders in lung cancer treatments incorporating molecular testing and related translational research, to provide expert clinical services. To realize this vision, we seek someone with vision, character, and determination to lead the DTO, which includes +20 physician program. For clinical research, we enroll +200 patients per year to therapeutic trials. For translational research, Moffitt’s enterprise-wide data warehouse, the Health and Research Informatics (HRI) platform, offers endless opportunities to link quantitative imaging, clinical, and molecular data. HRI houses information on more than 500,000 unique patients, including treatment information available from the electronic health records and Cancer Registry on more than 200,000 cancer patients, patient-reported data on 150,000 patients, and vast amounts of research and clinical-grade sequencing and expression data on more than 20,000 patients. Our faculty members are engaged in intra- and interdepartmental research as well as independent academic accomplishments. With strong collaborations, faculty members are integral contributors to clinical trials, providing translational support. We have a wealth of complex clinical material and a remarkable biorepository, with instrumentation for success in research, particularly translational and clinical studies. Our laboratory programs bring innovative CLIA grade testing services to patients and physicians supporting the Personalized Medicine Program. Advanced testing services include Next Generation Sequencing, Circulating Tumor Cell Analysis, Cell free Nucleic Acid analysis, and complex multiplex analytical tissue imaging. Resident and Hematology/Oncology Fellow rotations occur from the ACGME-accredited residency program at the University of South Florida and Moffitt Cancer Center. We offer outstanding educational opportunities to learners at all levels. A university appointment with the University of South Florida is available in the appropriate rank as applicable.

Requirements:

Candidates must have a proven track record of excellence in providing leadership and teaching, and have demonstrated important research contributions and must have experience in a multi-disciplinary clinical setting. Leadership qualities, including strategic vision, are essential. Candidate must have a Florida Medical License or eligible for one, an MD degree or MD/PhD degree, currently hold a rank of Professor or Associate Professor and be board certified and fellowship trained in Medical Oncology.
