The VA Boston Healthcare System Medical Service at the West Roxbury campus serves as a tertiary care referral center for the veteran population throughout New England and is a major teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School and Boston University School of Medicine. The Cardiology Section, in collaboration with the Cardiovascular Division of BWH, invites applications for Clinical or Associate Clinical Director (based on experience) of the Mechanical Circulatory Support and Heart Transplant Program at VA Boston Healthcare System. VABHS offers the full complement of cardiology services for veterans including cardiac surgery, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, and imaging. The successful candidate provides clinical leadership to a new program that expands the services provided by the Heart Failure Program at VABHS and will function in close collaboration with the Cardiovascular Division of Brigham and Women’s Hospital. In addition to clinical and administrative duties at VABHS, this position will also provide opportunities to rotate on the heart failure and transplant services at BWH. The Clinical Director also serves as the clinical and administrative liaison between VABHS and BWH for the program. The position involves teaching of residents, Cardiovascular Disease fellows, and subspecialty fellows in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology. The applicant is encouraged to develop an active program in clinical research, quality of care, or equivalent academic area. Academic appointment at Harvard Medical School and Boston University School of Medicine will be provided commensurate with experience and accomplishments.
Board certification in Cardiovascular Diseases and board certification/eligibility in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology are required. Full, unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state is required.
