Weill Cornell Medicine, the medical college of Cornell University, invites applicants for the position of Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education. The Senior Associate Dean reports directly to the Dean of Weill Cornell Medicine, who is also Provost for Medical Affairs of Cornell University, and serves on his senior executive leadership team.

The medical college at Weill Cornell Medicine is a nationally ranked institution dedicated to the education of the next generation of physicians and physician-scientists. Leveraging an outstanding faculty and clinical program with NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital as its major clinical partner, Weill Cornell Medicine is a leader in academic medicine. With about 425 medical students, Weill Cornell Medicine has developed a world-class approach to medical training. The innovative curriculum centers around three themes: the Scientific Basis of Medicine, Patient Care, and Physicianship. The program fosters integration of basic sciences and clinical activities, and encourages students to think critically early in their training. The curriculum includes an innovative area of concentration program in the final year where students conduct a scholarly research project in an area that is of particular interest to gain a depth of knowledge. Partnering with other units within Cornell University and affiliated academic institutions and hospitals, the medical school also provides MD-PhD and MD-MBA joint degree programs. The medical school program has been successfully vetted and received reaccreditation by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) in 2018.

The Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education is a senior-level administrative position responsible for developing academic programs, setting educational standards and policies, allocating resources, and attracting and supporting a talented and diverse body of students. The successful candidate will oversee Weill Cornell Medicine’s medical education programs, as well as admissions and student affairs. The Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education will provide visionary leadership and effective strategic planning towards the continued development of medical education, including a leading role in our capital campaign. The successful candidate will foster collaborations with Cornell Tech in New York City, Cornell University in Ithaca, Weill Cornell Medicine in Qatar, as well as with other affiliated and neighboring educational and research institutions to maximize the medical school and degree program.

The successful candidate will be a nationally renowned medical educator and administrator, who will work collaboratively within and outside of the medical college. Academic qualifications and scholarly accomplishments must merit appointment to the rank of professor with tenure at Weill Cornell Medicine. Demonstrated administrative expertise in a research university, excellent managerial and communication skills, and a proven commitment to diversity and inclusion are key requirements.
