Dartmouth-Hitchcock in Lebanon, New Hampshire is seeking an Assistant Director - Laboratory Medicine Clinical Chemistry.

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center is seeking a full-time clinical chemist to join the department in the role of Assistant Director of Clinical Chemistry. Candidates must be PhD clinical chemists with board certification/eligibility from the American Board of Clinical Chemistry or the equivalent. Candidates must have strong analytical, consultative and communicative skills in all aspects of clinical chemistry. Experience in the development and oversight of mass spectrometry assays and the interpretation of clinical toxicology results are highly desirable.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative team of two additional clinical chemists in the oversight of the main hospital laboratory which serves a 400-bed tertiary care teaching hospital as well as an physician office laboratories located across the southern tier of New Hampshire. The main clinical laboratory performs approximately 4.5 million tests annually and includes specialized testing in the areas of endocrinology, infectious disease serology, immunology and toxicology.

A demonstrable ability to teach students, residents and fellows is also required to support the academic mission of the department. The successful candidate will participate in the instruction of pathology residents, undergraduate medical technology students and clinical chemistry fellows as part of the ComACC accredited fellowship program faculty.

Academic rank at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth will be commensurate with experience and academic record of accomplishment.

Minimum Requirements:

• Board certified or board eligible
• PhD in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution. Board certification must be a department of Health and Human Services (HHS) approved certification.
• Particular emphasis on clinical toxicology is strongly preferred.
• The ideal candidate will have a minimum five (5) years of related work experience.
• Particular consideration will also be given to candidates who also have board certification or eligibility in another area of laboratory medicine.
• Has the education, training and experience required by CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) to direct a high complexity laboratory in their specialty.
• Experience with Codes of Federal Regulations (CFR), current Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Memorandums and Guidances, The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation requirements, College of American Pathology (CAP) accreditation requirements and good medical practice.
