Chair, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Albany Medical College is seeking a physician leader to serve as Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Candidates should possess an MD or MD/PhD degree, hold board certification and be eligible for licensure in medicine in the State of New York. The selected candidate will occupy the Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology and will be the service chief at Albany Medical Center Hospital.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology provides medical student teaching, residency and fellowship training, research and clinical services at Albany Medical Center Hospital. It also is developing an integrated approach to women’s services across its system of two additional affiliated hospitals in northeastern New York.

The Department Chair leads a team of more than 25 obstetrics and gynecology faculty who participate in teaching and research programs and provide a broad spectrum of general and subspecialty obstetrical and gynecological services. Faculty work collaboratively with their colleagues in the Departments of Pediatrics, Surgery, Internal Medicine and others to provide the most advanced care in the 25-county Capital Region.

The department includes subspecialty divisions in all areas, including Maternal Fetal Medicine, Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, Gynecologic Oncology, and General Obstetrics and Gynecology. Albany Med is the only hospital in the region to be certified by the New York State Department of Health as a Perinatal Outreach Program. Albany Med also has the region’s only level IV neonatal intensive care center, proudly serving the surrounding 25 counties.
