The Department of Pediatrics at Stanford University School of Medicine is seeking faculty members in the University Tenure Line, Medical Center Line, or Non-Tenure Research/Teaching Line. Basic research scientists, clinician scientists, and translational scientists with a commitment to becoming independent investigators and leaders in their fields are invited to apply. The potential areas of research should be relevant to diabetes or endocrine disorders including basic, translational, clinical, epidemiology/statistics, informatics, health services, or health policy. Successful applicants will have demonstrated outstanding (or the promise of outstanding) laboratory-based or patient-based investigative experience relevant to the broad field of pediatrics and child health. The candidates are expected to establish high quality, independent research programs and have a strong record of, or potential for, exceptional teaching. In addition to evidence of prior research accomplishments, the successful candidate must have an MD or MD/PhD degree and have completed at least two years of postdoctoral or clinical fellowship training. Opportunities for clinical service activities in pediatrics are available depending on the candidate’s interests and training. The appointment will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor academic rank and within the University Tenure Line, Medical Center Line or Non-Tenure Line Teaching/Research. Faculty rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

  • The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching.
  • The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the Medical Center Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.
  • The major criterion for appointment for faculty in the Non-tenure Line (Research) is evidence of high-level performance as a researcher for whose special knowledge a programmatic need exists.
  • The major criterion for appointment for faculty in the Non-tenure Line (Teaching) is evidence of high-level performance as a teacher for whose special knowledge and pedagogical skills a programmatic need exists.
